Sunday Sermon – The Theory That Became Real
Share
The Theory:
Years ago, there was this guy, Jordan Peterson.
He had this Biblical series that blew my mind.
At the time, my mom was dying. And as the not-so-good Catholic I was, I got pulled into it.
You see, the series is about the Old Testament — basically translated into modern-day meaning.
The part that hit me hardest was the definition of sacrifice.
He talks about how sacrificing the animal back then meant everything. That was their food, their life — it was everything.
Think about that.
Just like alcohol and drugs were to me...
It was my fucking oxygen to live.
He goes on to say:
To create real change, you have to sacrifice what’s most meaningful to you.
And I’m here to tell you — it’s true.
And the change isn't just about you.
The Proof:
My brother-in-law and I both went through some real change.
Mine was addiction. His was getting his health back.
We’re both creeping up on the 12-month mark.
And what I find so fascinating is — the changes we made didn’t just change us. They changed the most important people around us.
It’s literally like living in a parallel universe.
Our whole family and friends are seeing it.
And now? They want some of that, too.
They’re living a little better.
Pushing a little harder.
Dreaming a little bigger.
The side effects of real change ripple out.
It’s the best gift you can give yourself — and your family, and your friends.
You become the catalyst for good, instead of the demonic catalyst for destruction.
Yes, you’ll lose relationships.
That’s okay.
They never really served your soul anyway.
And by changing your ways, the right souls will start to find you — through God’s blessing.
You’ll see clearer.
You’ll laugh harder.
You’ll love stronger.
You are not loosing anything but you gain it ALL. And will embark on the greatest adventure of your life.
And that feeling? You can’t package that.
You can’t sell it.
That’s God’s blessing for living clean, stronger, and sober.
If I could bottle it, I’d be a trillionaire.
It’s so valuable to me, I feel like I have to give it away for free.
I have to promote it.
Every man and woman should have access to this — and it should never be kept secret.
That’s how we roll now.
So if you really want change, it starts with you.
If you’re in a bad situation — you need to change first.
You need to run your race.
And if you’re afraid the people around you won’t change?
It’s probably because you’re too afraid to lead — as a man.
Trust me — I was that weak man, my brain had me convinced i was, but you're not.
And now? Everyone around me is stronger and better.
And if you’re reading this thinking, “Fuck this guy, he’s saying I’m not a man,”
that’s because your testosterone, dopamine, serotonin — all that — is so fucking low you your not hearing what im saying.
Your issue isn’t just your addiction — it’s the chemical imbalance in your brain.
That’s a scientifically proven fact.
Recessional:
“I'm a rebel, soul rebel / I'm a capturer, soul adventurer.”
— Bob Marley, “Soul Rebel” (1970)
Now for the Bake Sale
This isn’t just a flag.
The first one was created on my 6-month mark of sobriety — a moment that marked the start of real clarity.
Not some generic wall piece.
It was built to reflect the new depth, respect, and quality we should all have for ourselves.
